Postdoctoral position: Climate Science for Climate Risk Analysis
Rutgers–New Brunswick

The Rutgers University Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences invites applications for a postdoctoral associate with interests at the interface of climate modeling and economic risk analysis. Starting Spring or Summer 2020, the candidate will join the Rutgers University Earth System Science & Policy lab, under the direction of Professor Robert Kopp, and its collaborators in the Climate Impact Lab (impactlab.org<http://impactlab.org>).

The Climate Impact Lab is a team of economists, climate scientists, and software and data engineers at Rutgers, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Chicago, and the Rhodium Group. The Impact Lab develops innovative, empirically grounded approaches for assessing the economic risks of climate change. The postdoctoral associate will focus on analyzing the implications of different sources of global and regional climate uncertainty, as well as different approaches to estimating such uncertainties, on such economic risk assessments. We are seeking candidates with a strong climate science background who desire to expand the experience with climate impact analysis.

Candidates must have a strong grasp of statistics, strong coding skills, and familiarity with CMIP-class global climate models. Familiarity with risk assessment, climate impacts, climate econometrics, and/or the climate scenarios literature is a plus. Applicant must hold a PhD in climate science, atmospheric science, oceanography, or a related field at the time of appointment.

The position will be based at Rutgers-New Brunswick and require significant time visiting Climate Impact Lab partners in Chicago, Berkeley, Oakland, and Seattle.

Consideration of applications will begin on January 15, 2020. Apply at https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/107410
