This position will contribute to an emerging cluster of expertise in Indigenous environmental stewardship at the University of Guelph. This Chair will be based in the School of Environmental Sciences (SES) of the Ontario Agricultural College.

Exceptional emerging Indigenous scholars, with the potential to become world leaders in a field related to environmental science and stewardship, are invited to apply. Eligible applicants for the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Environmental Stewardship must have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent), demonstrated research excellence and productivity, and experience engaging and working with Indigenous communities. Experience in Indigenous Traditional Knowledge (ITK) and/or an interest and capacity to incorporate ITK into research goals and practice and to transfer knowledge to indigenous and non-indigenous communities/stakeholders is preferred. Candidates with research interests examining policy development and planning or community sustainability will also be considered. The Chair is expected to work collaboratively with researchers on campus, nationally and internationally, and with First Nations, Métis, or Inuit communities. While this is primarily a research appointment, the successful candidate will be expected to teach a graduate or undergraduate course related to ITK and their discipline within environmental sciences.
