The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Program (EEP) challenges thought
leaders to test and shape energy, conservation, and environmental policies,
governance systems, and institutions that support the well-being of both
nature and society. The Program's forums and dialogues are designed to
cultivate leadership and develop collective solutions based on the ideal
that both humankind and the natural world have intrinsic value. Like the
Aspen Institute as a whole, the Energy and Environment Program seeks to
inspire and explore new ideas that provoke action in the world.

BASIC FUNCTION

The Program Associate is a key member of the Energy and Environment Program
team, working on a variety of topical areas, including environment, climate
change, and energy topics. This position principally works on logistical
matters related to EEP's convenings. The Program Associate will work
directly with the EEP Executive Director (ED), Managing Director (MD), and
other EEP staff, external partners, and vendors to support the program's
various projects and events by providing event planning and logistics, high
touch correspondence with external stakeholders, data maintenance, website
management, project finances, materials development and distribution, and
related activities. The Program Associate will be the main point of contact
in charge of overseeing the administration of certain project and program
requirements and will take a leading role in managing specific projects,
corresponding with partners, participants, and speakers, in consultation
with the ED and MD.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

The Program Associate, with supervision and direction from the Executive
Director, Managing Director, and Assistant Directors will:

*	Logistical Planning and Convening Implementation (70%)- Develop,
plan, manage, and implement logistical elements of EEP convenings,
including:

*	Preparing a timeline and checklist for each convening;
*	Collaborating with the EEP operations team to ensure meeting spaces,
meals, lodging, participant travel, ground transportation, and/or AV
requirements for convenings are secured;
*	Creating and managing lists for invitations, drafting, preparing,
and sending invitations, tracking follow up, and creating tracking material
for all attendees of convenings;
*	Conducting individualized follow up with invitees, including via
phone and email;
*	Traveling to convening locations and lead set up and serve as
on-site logistics lead;
*	Preparing convening materials, including name tags, name tents,
agendas, binders, and/or digital readings, and disseminating to participants
digitally and/or in hard copy;
*	Update the EEP website with up to date information; and
*	Processing expense reimbursements.

*	Substantive research and writing (30%)- Work with EEP team to
research, identify, and develop substantive topics, activities, discussants,
participants, and other items that align with the EEP programmatic vision
and goals, to help set the direction for EEP convenings and the overall EEP
strategy. This includes:

*	Developing agenda items and identifying potential speakers and
participants for EEP convenings; 
*	Participate and represent the program in meetings, calls,
correspondence, and other forms of communications with current and potential
partners, sponsors, discussants, and participants on both substantive and
logistical topics; and
*	Research, write, and edit a variety of different EEP Products,
including but not limited to research papers and articles, reports, summary
and action items from calls and meetings, email correspondence, invitations,
post-convening follow up, and other items.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A successful candidate will have:

*	 Ability and desire to rapidly learn a wide variety of new subject
matter;
*	 Ability to successfully manage many tasks simultaneously, master
workflow details, and self-prioritize;
*	 Strong work ethic with the ability to sometimes work long hours
when necessary to complete tasks, including evenings and weekends;
*	 Ability to manage time effectively;
*	 Ability to work autonomously and with a small team;
*	 Strong customer service orientation - a "Yes, and" attitude;
*	 Ability to track and follow up and hundreds of details without
forgetting anything;
*	 Ability to communicate through written and verbal means;
*	 Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook,
Word and Excel;
*	 Experience with publications production and dissemination helpful;
*	 Strong professional and diplomatic interpersonal skills required;
*	 Demonstrable ability to discern political, economic and cultural
beliefs and ideologies related to policy questions and subject matter,
including participant and institutional biases;
*	 Bachelor's degree required; and 2-5 years of related work
experience; and
*	 Willingness and ability to travel, as much as 25-50% certain times
of the year.

 Level of Authority: 

*	 Non-supervisory Position
*	 No budget authority
