Assistant Professor in Cloud Physics and Climate Change
University of California at Davis
The University of California at Davis is pleased to announce the recruitment for an academic year (9-month) tenure-track faculty position in Cloud Physics and Climate Change. The successful candidate will join the Department of Land, Air & Water Resources in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate is expected to conduct modeling, field and/or laboratory research on topics at the intersection of cloud physics and climate change.  For example, this work may address the impact of human activity on the formation, character and radiative properties of clouds, or improved representation of clouds within either regional or global climate models (including sub-grid-scale drivers such as convective processes, microphysics and macrophysics). Criteria for appointment include: a Ph.D. or equivalent in atmospheric science, meteorology, or a closely related field; a record of excellence in scholarly research; demonstrable potential to establish a competitively-funded research program; strong interest and demonstrated ability (or potential) in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Atmospheric Science; ability or potential in undergraduate advising, curricular development, and department and university service. The appointee is also expected to guide and mentor graduate students and participate in research and outreach/engagement programs consistent with the mission of the California Agricultural Experiment Station.
