Title for announcement: Public Release of past and present REACH (Responsive Environmental Assessment Commercially Hosted) Dosimeter data at SPDF
We are excited to share with the community that data is now being made available daily from the Aerospace Corporation’s REACH constellation. REACH consists of dosimeter pairs hosted on 32 IRIDIUM NEXT satellites spread across 6 orbital planes at ~800 km. Each satellite hosts two dosimeters, for a total of 64 dosimeter measurements, allowing global, high temporal resolution measurements of particle populations ranging from ~50 keV to ~5 MeV electrons, and ~600 keV to ~50 MeV protons, covering many aspects of the space environment which can lead to spacecraft hazards, including total dose, internal charging, and single-event effects. Data from 2022 to present, updated daily, are now available in draft CDF files at https://spdf.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/data/reach/dosimeter/l1c/all_satellites/prelim/. In addition, preliminary data access and analysis tools are available in a Python package available at https://github.com/swxsoc/swxsoc_reach. Further documentation for this dataset and the software tools can be found at https://swxsoc-reach.readthedocs.io/en/latest/. Global dose maps are expected to be made available soon and can be generated using the Python package now. Older data, from 2017 to 2019 and useful technical documents can be found at https://zenodo.org/records/6423507 in zipped CSV file format and in netCDFs at NASA’s SPDF at https://cdaweb.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eval1.cgi
