Dear CEDARians,

I'm reaching out to invite interested parties to submit an abstract to an
ionospheric/magnetospheric cusp session. You can find more details on the
page for the session here
<https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu26/prelim.cgi/Session/280391>, but I include
the abstract and title for convenience below. Please reach out if you have
any questions about it.

*SM017 - Multiscale Dynamics and Evolution of Reconnection, Cusp Processes,
and Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling*

Recent advances in observations have enabled unprecedented insight into
magnetic reconnection and particle dynamics in Earth's dayside cusp. This
session focuses on dayside magnetic reconnection, its spatiotemporal
variability, and the resulting changes in cusp plasma populations and
electromagnetic signatures. We also encourage contributions that explore
broader aspects of geospace coupling, including investigations of
magnetospheric processes along extended orbital trajectories and
connections between the cusp, boundary layers, and inner magnetosphere.
Topics of interest include multiscale energy and momentum transfer, the
role of solar wind drivers and IMF conditions in controlling cusp dynamics,
and comparisons with global and kinetic models. Studies leveraging
multi-instrument and multi-spacecraft conjunctions, including TRACERS,
THEMIS, MMS, REAL, ARASE, EZIE, and other relevant space and ground-based
observations, are strongly encouraged. This session aims to advance a
comprehensive understanding of cusp electrodynamics, reconnection
variability, and cross-scale coupling, while fostering collaboration across
the geospace science community.

The deadline for submission is August 5th, 2026 at 23:59 EDT / 03:59 UTC.

Thanks for you time and consideration,

Roger Roglans (UCB/SSL) on behalf of the conveners:
Shirsh Soni (UIowa)
Hyunju Connor (GSFC)
