Dear Colleagues,

Please consider submitting an abstract to the following session at the 2021 AGU Fall Meeting, December 13-17, 2021

SM005: Closing the gap between Space Weather Research, Operations, and End-User needs
Session ID 123634

Session Description
There are many end-user applications of space weather information that require improved space weather forecasting and analysis. Improving forecasting and analysis requires technical insight, operational expertise, and advances in our understanding of space weather science. In recent years operational organizations, such as NOAA and DOD, have made efforts to work closely with the academic community and private sector, as exemplified by the tri-agency Space Weather Operations-to-Research (O2R) grants program. The goal of this session is to provide a venue to showcase new and ongoing efforts connecting space weather research with operational and end-user needs to protect society against the social and economic impacts of space weather and to identify current gaps and obstacles in the Research to Operations to Research (R2O2R) process. We invite talks covering observations, models, and new capabilities that will advance operational applications related to space weather.

The deadline for abstract submission is August 4.

Regards,
Michele Cash, NOAA
Eric Sutton, UC Boulder
Shawn Young, AFRL
Linda Parker, USRA
