Dear CEDAR Community,

The Python Satellite Data Analysis Toolkit (pysat) is a Python package providing a simple but flexible interface for downloading, loading, cleaning, managing, processing, and analyzing scientific measurements. pysat v3.0.0 is a substantive release intended to support pysat in operational environments as well as expand community oriented capabilities for space science data analysis. Core features have been retained within pysat while supporting instruments and analysis codes have been moved to individual packages within the larger pysat ecosystem<https://pysat.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ecosystem.html>. Numerous improvements have been made to the core package, including but not limited to expanded data and file handling capabilities, better generalization of metadata, a thread and process safe design, expanded features for supporting a broad range of instruments, as well as expanded documentation. While v3.0.0 is not backwards compatible, due to a reorganization of some functions and the data storage structure, the user interface is largely unchanged.

Sincerely,
Dr. Russell Stoneback
Dr. Angeline Burrell
Dr. Jeff Klenzing
