Dear colleagues,

I'd like to bring your attention to the following AGU session:

*Session Title: *GP010: Recent Progress in Research of Geomagnetically
Induced Currents: From Sources to Impacts

*Session description:*
Geomagnetically Induced Currents (GICs) at the Earth’s surface are
fundamentally driven by geoelectric fields, which are caused by the
interaction between geomagnetic disturbances in the solar
wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere system and Earth’s internal conductivity
structure. GICs can have severe impacts on critical infrastructure,
including disrupting operation of electrically conducting technological
systems, such as power grids, oil and gas pipelines, and communication
networks. This session invites papers about recent progress and current
understanding of the physical processes of GICs, the associated sources
from the Sun to the ground, and their impact on technologies. Submissions
that focus on theoretical arguments, modeling and prediction, and direct
observations are all encouraged.

*Conveners:*
Xueling Shi, Benjamin Murphy, Anna Kelbert, Zhonghua Xu

We look forward to seeing your submission and your participation in this
session in December.

Best wishes,
