Dear CEDAR community,

The CEDAR Science Steering Committee (CSSC) has been brainstorming with
CEDAR meeting sponsors to create a virtual CEDAR summer meeting. We are
pleased to announce that there will be a ‘light-weight’ virtual meeting
during the week originally planned for the Santa Fe meeting: 22-26 June.
It is likely that there will be CEDAR sponsored virtual activities on three
out of five days.

There will be no registration fee.

There will be some form of gatekeeping control to keep out ‘intruders’.

The basic elements of the virtual meeting will be:

1) A virtual NSF overview for CEDAR Science with some opportunity to
ask questions

2) A student-run meeting with pre-recorded and live virtual tutorials,
with opportunity for subsequent interactions

3) An opportunity to pre-record and share CEDAR science
highlights—anyone with CEDAR related science is welcome to pre-record short
videos—so put your best foot forward

4) Virtual workshops that are supported by individual organizers with
respect to content and technology

For the latter two (3 & 4) grassroot components the CEDAR Wiki will most
likely provide the framework to gather and organize top level information
for the community.

More definite plans will be communicated in a subsequent email in mid-May
after we work out support details.

We look forward to seeing CEDAR science highlighted in an agile,
interactive and virtual environment!
