Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning and the School of Mathematical and
Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) has an immediate
full-time vacancy for an exceptional Post-Doctoral or Research Scientist
position to address questions involving multi-scale climate modeling
focused on rapidly expanding urban areas.

Primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will involve
exploration of solutions targeted at overcoming challenges vis-à-vis the
climate/energy/water nexus of rapidly expanding megapolitan areas within
the U.S and globally. The successful candidate(s) will join a
transdisciplinary team of researchers jointly collaborating within ASU’s
Global Institute of Sustainability. A portion of the work may require
periodic visits to the Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Division at the

(those with expertise using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF)
model, the principal tool of investigation, are encouraged to apply).

Familiarity in handling and dealing with large data sets of various
formats.

Programming skills (e.g., Fortran) and proficiency in visualizing model
output (e.g., GrADS, Matlab) for production of scholarly manuscripts in
peer-reviewed journals.

Ph.D. in atmospheric science, hydrology, computational/mathematical
geosciences, or related fields.

For full consideration, please submit applications by February 1, 2013. The
position is available for up to 2 years, subject to annual performance
review. Salary is commensurable with experience. An attractive benefits
