*Postdoctoral Research Associates in Ocean Modeling, Data Assimilation*

The Departments of Earth & Planetary Sciences and Applied Mathematics
and Statistics, Johns Hopkins University, invite applications for one,
or more, postdoctoral research associates. The successful candidate(s)
will participate in federally-funded projects to explore and apply ocean
circulation modeling and/or data assimilation to the Atlantic ocean. The
projects are collaborative ventures with the Applied Physics Laboratory
at Johns Hopkins. Further information about our recent research in this
area can be found at: http://www.jhu.edu/~thaine1/
<http://www.jhu.edu/%7Ethaine1/>.

The ideal candidate will be a creative independent individual with a
Ph.D. in physical oceanography and interests in applied mathematics, or
vice versa, but applicants in related fields will also be closely
considered. Knowledge in at least one of the following areas is
advantageous: Atlantic ocean circulation, numerical general circulation
models, data assimilation, geophysical fluid dynamics, ocean
biogeochemistry, and tracer transport. The start date is negotiable, but
completion of the Ph.D. is required. The appointment(s) will last up to
three years. The position carries a competitive salary and benefits, and
eligibility to participate in Johns Hopkins University health plans. To
receive full attention, please email by October 15, 2007 your CV plus
names and email addresses of three or more referees, to:

Kristen Gaines, Morton K. Blaustein Department of Earth and Planetary
Sciences, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore MD 21218. USA. (Email:
kgaines at jhu.edu <mailto:kgaines at jhu.edu>).

Johns Hopkins University is an equal opportunities/affirmative action
employer. Minorities and women are particularly encouraged to apply.
