Position Announcement

Environmental Protection Specialist or Program Analyst GS 11 or 12 or 13
          EPA Clean Energy-Environment State and Local Program
                Climate Protection Partnerships Division

EPA’s Clean Energy-Environment State and Local Program is looking for an
energetic individual to help State and Local Governments design and
implement clean energy and climate change programs and policies.

The Clean Energy-Environment State and Local Program provides expert
guidance and technical assistance to help state and local governments
develop and implement strategies that achieve multiple environmental,
energy, and economic benefits. For more information, see

The position involves working with state, local and federal government
officials and policy experts to design implement and promote clean
energy strategies that support emerging state and local climate change
goals, help meet air quality standards, and strengthen state and local
economies. Responsibilities include working directly with officials;
providing expert technical assistance; identifying policy opportunities;
conducting analyses; designing implementation strategies; and
communicating regularly.  The analyst also will become a national expert
in one or more topic area.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in environmental and energy
policies, a strong analytical background, and be able to communicate
effectively, both orally and in writing. Preferred qualifications
include experience working with senior state or local government
officials to analyze and develop clean energy and/or environmental
policies and programs or equivalent;  knowledge of and experience
applying analytical tools and methods to assess environmental and
energy policies and quantify program outcomes; and familiarity with
national, state and local clean energy and climate change programs.
Additionally, we are looking for excellent organizational skills and the
ability to be able to work independently as well as on teams. This
position is located in Washington, D.C.
