[ncl-talk] how to set the palette when plotting contour on contour

Hi all,
    I planed to use NCL to plot a TS evaluation matrix  under the background of terrian data following the image of example.png, which have a background of of terrian (look like three-dimensional as the color changed ) and overlay a countour with transparent colors. But the written script picture.ncl failed to display such picutre. So would you please help me check the script for the next problems?
 
(1) how to set the palette of terrian plotting to make it look like three-dimension in grey color?  I used 100 grey RBG codes to form the palette, but the output picture  failed to display like that in the example.png.
 
(2)how to set the palette of TS evaluation results to make it transparent and  able to display the terrian under them as in the example.png
 
(3) the map projection was set to "LamberConformal" by applying the function of wrf_map_resources, but the map gridlines show in the rectangular not in the curvilinear, what are the reasons?
