[ncl-talk] svg output file

Hi,

I noticed 6.2.0 has enabled support for svg output files. I went ahead and
upgraded, and tried this out. What I found, was the file was in svg format,
but it was just referencing a png raster file. I am curious if there was
any effort to make a truly vector svg image?

My immediate needs is a SST map that I would be scalable to zoom in/out
without losing details. There are many different approaches to this
problem, but the idea of keeping the image in vector format seems ideal. I
was hoping the svg output file would suit this need, where features such as
line segment, rectangles, etc, weren't just in svg format. I am not sure if
this is possible? But, I figure if it is being done with PS, PDF files,
then it should be doable with SVG. Right?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
