[ncl-talk] vectors in a cross section

Hi Evelyn,

Sorry for the delay in answering. I don't think there is any simple
way in NCL to get different reference vectors for each vector
component, especially as an integrated annotation. It is possible to
get 2 annotations to appear: they are controlled by the vcRefAnno[xx]
and the vcMinAnno[xx]. There are angle resources for these annotations
so it should be possible to display one of them with a vertical arrow.
You would not be able to get reference values for each component from
VectorPlot but if you can calculate them yourself you can explicitly
set you own strings for each of these annotations.  You can also
explicitly set the magnitude used to scale the arrow for each of these
annotations.

If you need help getting this to work let us know. I don't think
anyone has tried it before.
