John,

Not a developer, but a bug in the grib2 decoder was discovered in the last couple of weeks. The bug is being fixed in 6.2.1 due out next week and this seems to be a similar problem--I'm sure a real developer will chime in soon if this is a different bug/fileproblem. But if you can't wait and really need to look at the file, you might be able to use the netcdf conversion capability of wgrib2 to convert to netcdf, then carry on with ncl. However, it also takes a recent version of wgrib2 (2.0) to pull this off--I found a bug in its converter late last year which Wesley fixed during the transition from 1.9 to 2.0

Subject: [ncl-talk] Read the GRIB file not correctly

Dear NCL developers,

Attached grib2 file has 6 forecast times of GPH but strangely NCL detect only 5 forecast times. ( 1 analysis and 4 forecast times )

I have tested this file with NCL 6.1.2 and 6.2.0 but all couldn't detect corretly.

I tested this file with wgrib2 , wgrib2 correctly detect this grib2 file. So I think this grib2 file is correctly encoded.

Please check it and help me how to correctly read this file in NCL.

Thanks in advance.
