PhD position at TU Delft, The Netherlands:

*“Coupled modeling of Greenland ice sheet and global climate evolution”*

Description: The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is currently losing mass in
response to atmospheric and ocean warming. The candidate will investigate
the interactions between the GrIS and the climate system with the Community
Earth System Model, the first global climate model that simulates
realistically ice sheet surface processes (e.g. surface melt, albedo). The
project goal is to examine the role of natural climate variability vs.
anthropogenic forcing, melt-albedo feedback, changes in cloud cover and sea
ice on the current and future evolution of the Greenland ice sheet and its
climate.

Requirements: Candidates must have a background in Meteorology, Physics
and/or Fluid Dynamics. High programming and analytical skills, experience
in advanced statistical analysis, and good English oral and writing skills
are required. Experience in meteorology, climate dynamics and/or glaciology
is desirable.

We offer: full-time position for four years at the Department of Geoscience
and Remote Sensing, Delft University of Technology www.grs.citg.delft.nl.

The project will be co-supervised by Dr. Jan Lenaerts from the Institute
for Marine and Atmospheric Research at Utrecht University. The candidate
will collaborate with colleagues in the US and present results in CESM
meetings and international conferences.

Application: Please send cover letter, CV and contact details of at least
two referees to supervisor Miren Vizcaino, M.Vizcaino at tudelft.nl, with
subject “PhD Application: Coupled GrIS/climate modeling” before 10th Nov
2014.
