The University of Arizona seeks a highly creative scientist with interests in modern marine processes and applications to the geological record. The candidate is expected to serve in a leadership role supervising research activities at the Biosphere 2 ocean, a unique experimental facility for understanding geological, biological and oceanographic processes in a controlled environment and testing future oceanographic technologies, and to provide intellectual direction for future research applications across all disciplines in the B2 ocean. The candidate is also expected to be an active member of the Geosciences Department, with a vigorous research agenda in any aspect of marine geosciences, including but not limited to biogeochemical processes, paleoclimatology, paleobiology, coral reef research, marine sedimentary systems and marine mineral chemistry. The successful candidate will have access to the world-class instrumental/analytical facilities available in the Geosciences Department. We are particularly eager to identify candidates with interests in collaborating with other members of the Geosciences Department. The position is open to applicants at any rank. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses related to marine geosciences. Duties & Responsibilities


The successful candidate is expected to provide intellectual research leadership and overall supervision of the B2 Ocean. She/he will develop and maintain a vigorous, collaborative and externally funded research program, including publishing and presenting her/his research to the scientific community, and to work with other members of the Geosciences Department and other UA faculty, researchers and students in achieving these goals.
