Pos-Doc in Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry at the University of São
Paulo, Brazil

Candidates should send their documentation before March 25, 2018

The Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics of the Institute of Physics of USP
offers a post-doctoral opportunity in aerosol mass spectrometry of aerosols
with a Fapesp scholarship. The application deadline is March 25, 2018. The
grant is linked to the Thematic Project 2017 / 17047-0 with the title
"Aerosols and clouds life-cycles in Amazonia: biogenic emissions, biomass
burning and impacts on the ecosystem" coordinated by Prof. Paulo Artaxo.

The selected Pos Doc will work on a project that investigates the effects
of aerosols in the Amazonian ecosystem, through aerosol mass spectrometry.
Through measurements in the ATTO tower (325 meters) in Central Amazonia,
measurements in Chacaltaya, Bolivia, in the Andes, at 5,250 meters of
altitude and in boats and airplanes, we intend to study the life cycle of
aerosols and biogenic gases and how these influence the climate and the
Amazonian ecosystem.

The candidate must have a doctorate degree and knowledge of aerosol and
trace gas measurements, to work in a multidisciplinary team. We aim at a
Pos-Doc with some learning capability of Aerosol Mass Spectrometry (AMS)
and Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS). We also value the
experience with measurements of physical properties of aerosols such as
size distribution, absorption and scattering of radiation, and measurements
of chemical composition of aerosol particles.

Candidates must send an e-mail with the title "PD Fapesp LFA" to
artaxo at if.usp.br, attaching the following files in pdf format: 1)
Curriculum Vitae; 2) letter describing their professional training; 3)
Letter describing his/her experience with measurements of aerosols and
trace gases.

The vacancy is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The selected person will
receive a Fapesp Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,174.80 per
month and a Technical Reserve allowance. The Technical Reserve of a PD
Grant is equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship and is
intended to meet unforeseen expenses directly related to the research
activity.

If the PD grant holder resides in a different location and needs to move to
the city where the research institution is located, he / she may be
entitled to a grant-installation. More information about the Fapesp
Postdoctoral Fellowship is available at www.fapesp.br/bolsas/pd. On this
