The Molecular Ecology and Geomicrobiology Lab at Texas A&M
University-Corpus Christi is accepting applications for a research
assistantship starting in Spring or Fall 2018. Our research integrates
molecular microbiology, geochemistry and geobiology to understand
microbial life across environments such as marine subsurface, terrestrial
subsurface, and coastal estuaries. Ample resources are available for field
sampling or cruises, advanced experimental approaches (cultivation, next
generation sequencing, flow cytometry, digital PCR), and/or bioinformatics
of existing data.

Interested Ph.D. students should preferably hold an M.S. degree with a
focus in Microbial Ecology, Marine Science/Oceanography, Biogeochemistry,
Astrobiology, or a related field, and possess strong analytical skills.
Potential applicants with a B.S. degree should have 2 years of research
experience in an area related to molecular microbiology, biochemistry,
genetics, or analytical chemistry and evidence of strong writing and
presentation skills. Above all else, the student should be excited,
motivated, and passionate about research in a growing field.

The graduate assistantship will have an excellent stipend relative to the
