The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON), a national leader=20=

in marine and coastal sciences, invites nominations and letters of=20
interest for the position of Executive Director to lead the educational=20=

partnership designed to increase awareness of the environmental,=20
economic and cultural value of Louisiana's coastal and marine=20
environments.

Under the direction of the LUMCON Executive Board, and in consultation=20=

with the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Executive Director provides=20
leadership, fiscal management, strategic resource management,=20
performance measurement, operational oversight as well as collaborative=20=

integration of research and educational activities in coastal and marine=20=

sciences for all LUMCON member institutions.

LUMCON conducts research and education programs directly relevant to=20
Louisiana's needs in marine science and coastal resources. A 22-
institution consortium of public and private institutions of higher=20
education, LUMCON is recognized locally, statewide, nationally and=20
internationally as a center of excellence in marine science and=20
education. LUMCON provides laboratory seawater systems, a specialized=20
marine science library, a fleet of research vessels and small boats, a=20=

facility in which visitors can experience the nature of Louisiana=20
wetlands, and an Environmental Monitoring Program with observing systems=20=

in inshore coastal waters, the Mississippi River and the nearshore=20
coastal ocean.
