The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON), a national leader=20=<br>
<br>
in marine and coastal sciences, invites nominations and letters of=20<br>
interest for the position of Executive Director to lead the educational=20=<br>
<br>
partnership designed to increase awareness of the environmental,=20<br>
economic and cultural value of Louisiana's coastal and marine=20<br>
environments.<br>
<br>
Under the direction of the LUMCON Executive Board, and in consultation=20=<br>
<br>
with the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Executive Director provides=20<br>
leadership, fiscal management, strategic resource management,=20<br>
performance measurement, operational oversight as well as collaborative=20=<br>
<br>
integration of research and educational activities in coastal and marine=20=<br>
<br>
sciences for all LUMCON member institutions.<br>
<br>
LUMCON conducts research and education programs directly relevant to=20<br>
Louisiana's needs in marine science and coastal resources. A 22-<br>
institution consortium of public and private institutions of higher=20<br>
education, LUMCON is recognized locally, statewide, nationally and=20<br>
internationally as a center of excellence in marine science and=20<br>
education. LUMCON provides laboratory seawater systems, a specialized=20<br>
marine science library, a fleet of research vessels and small boats, a=20=<br>
<br>
facility in which visitors can experience the nature of Louisiana=20<br>
wetlands, and an Environmental Monitoring Program with observing systems=20=<br>
<br>
in inshore coastal waters, the Mississippi River and the nearshore=20<br>
coastal ocean.<br>
