coupled atmosphere and land models. The selected staff member will
serve as integrator or “gate keeper” for land model and data
assimilation system development at the NASA Global Modeling and
Assimilation Office (GMAO). This implies the following expected duties:

Become the subject matter expert in development and documentation of
the NASA GEOS-5 land modeling and data assimilation system.

Integrate science software and model parameters developed by GMAO
science staff into the operational GEOS-5 system and perform
    associated tests.

    the GMAO.

Maintain appropriate standards and interfaces to facilitate coupling
of Land-Atmosphere-Ocean models in the broader NASA GEOS-5 system.

modeling or a related field and 8 years of relevant experience
is required for this position, or an equivalent combination of education
and professional experience.

Desired Qualifications:

A Master's Degree is strongly preferred. Applicants should possess 5-10
years of experience in designing, running, and analyzing output from
standalone or coupled land, atmosphere, or ocean numerical models or
data assimilation systems. Extensive experience in FORTRAN programming
is required. The applicant must be very detail-oriented. Experience in
Python programming is highly desired, as is familiarity with relevant
data formats (including NetCDF and HDF) and object-oriented software
paradigms (e.g., ESMF). Expert knowledge of parallel computing
processes and languages is also desired.
