Job Description:
SSAI, one of the best places to work in the Washington DC area, is
seeking a junior level scientific researcher/analyst to support
atmospheric measurement programs within the Laboratory for Atmospheres
at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Position will support deployment
of instrumentation to field sites throughout the world, including
instrument development, field analysis and visualization of mission
data. Validation support will include intercomparisons with satellite
data and other measurement mission data. Position supports publication
of scientific results and distribution to researchers via mission web
sites.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in a physical science, math, or computer science
discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is
required. Also required are 1-2 years experience with data analysis on
Unix/Linux systems and demonstrated competency with scientific
visualization using IDL, MATLAB or equivalent software. Requires
excellent written and verbal communication skills and a commitment
towards scientific support excellence. The willingness and ability to
support field deployments, sometimes in challenging locations, is required.
Desired Qualifications:
Additional laboratory or atmospheric remote sensing experience is
desirable. Additional laboratory skills or experience with radar
meteorology measurements would be a plus.
