Northwestern University’s Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences<http://www.earth.northwestern.edu> (DEPS) is seeking postdoctoral scholars to join the newly minted Climate Change Research Group<http://sites.northwestern.edu/danethan/> (CCRG). The CCRG studies the interaction of Earth’s climate system with an array of subjects across diverse spatiotemporal scales. Broad thematic interests include: the detection and attribution of recent climatic change, the near-term meteorological, societal, and public health impacts of anthropogenic climate change, and the evolution of Earth’s climate system through geologic time. To address this diversity of topics the group employs a wide-range of research tools including numerical models, environmental observations, statistical analyses, and machine learning techniques. Computing resources from Northwestern’s QUEST High Performance Computing Cluster support in-house numerical modeling and analysis efforts.
Appointed scholars will be encouraged to build innovative research collaborations with CCRG members, DEPS faculty, and the University at large. Positional funding is unrestricted by topic, as such intellectually creative proposals with an intra- or inter-disciplinary flavor are encouraged.
