Northland College, an environmentally focused liberal arts college on the
beautiful shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin, invites qualified educators
to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in geology.
http://www.northland.edu/about/jobs/

The College is seeking a surficial geologist who is dedicated to quality
undergraduate education and involving students in research. The successful
candidate will teach six courses per year, including Physical Geology,
Landforms, Hydrology, Senior Capstone Research/Senior Seminar, and two
other courses (possibly Glacial Geology) to be chosen by the candidate in
consultation with the environmental sciences faculty.

These courses will support the College’s liberal education program as well
as major programs in geology, water science, and natural resources. The
successful candidate will be expected to offer field-intensive or other
experiential learning courses during the College’s May Term. The
Environmental Sciences Department is expanding its use of GIS in classes,
so experience with GIS/spatial analysis will be a plus.

The successful candidate must be a dynamic educator dedicated to the
liberal arts and interdisciplinary teaching, and have a demonstrated
ability to help students at all levels understand and appreciate the
far-reaching influences of earth processes.

A PhD in geology is required (conferred by August, 2016). The position will
begin in late August, 2016.

Submit (in PDF format):

A letter that describes your interest in Northland College; Statement of
teaching interests and philosophies; Statement of research interests and
description of how students will be involved in research; Curriculum vitae
with names, titles, and contact information for at least three professional
references. Official transcripts will be requested of all candidates
selected as finalists.

Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2015.

Inquiries about this position can be sent to Professor Tom Fitz
(http://www.northland.edu/dir/tom-fitz/) in the Environmental Sciences
Department.

The College provides equal opportunity for all qualified persons regardless
of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual
orientation, or veteran status. Northland College is an affirmative action
