Position Summary 	

The Environmental and Earth Sciences Department at Willamette University 
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to 
begin August 2015.

This position is eligible for the University's generous benefits package 
that includes: medical/dental insurance, contribution of 10% of gross 
base pay from the University in exchange for a mandatory contribution of 
1% by the employee, tuition remission, and moving expense reimbursement.

Additional Information/About the Department 	

The Department of Environmental and Earth Sciences (EES) is hiring a 
full-time, tenure track position in Global Climate Change and 
Environmental Health. Successful applicants will have expertise in the 
human health dimensions of global climate change such as (but not 
limited to) infectious disease, food security, water resources, or 
population displacement, and an aptitude for and commitment to teaching 
and research in an interdisciplinary environmental science department. 
The individual will contribute to our coreEEScurriculum at both the 
upper and lower division levels (including participation in rotational 
team teaching of our introductory courses, and supervising senior 
theses), and also teach one to two upper level courses in his/her area 
of expertise. All faculty at Willamette are expected to contribute to 
our general education classes, thoughtfully advise and mentor students, 
and maintain an active and externally funded program of scholarship 
incorporating undergraduates.

We anticipate hiring an individual whose scholarship and teaching rests 
within the social sciences. We expect all applicants to utilize 
quantitative and qualitative methods in their research and teaching. We 
anticipate the successful candidate will develop research and teaching 
collaborations both within and beyondEES, for example, with colleagues 
in sociology, politics, psychology, economics, anthropology, history, or 
biology.

This position is aligned with theEESdepartment's objectives of creating 
an integrative, collaborative, and inclusive learning environment, 
utilizing high impact pedagogies and collaborative learning, as well as 
achieving the University's stated goal of "Deepening our understanding 
of sustainability as a unifying principle across the curriculum" 
(Willamette University Strategic Plan, January 2013, Objective 4d). We

both withinEESand across theCLAto be informed and engaged global citizens.

Required Qualifications 	

Terminal degree (Ph.D, MD or equivalent) in environmental health or 
related discipline is required./ABDwill be considered, but must have 
terminal degree by the time position starts in August 2015./
