MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


The University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus, Department of Crops and
Agro-Environmental Sciences seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor
position in the field of Soil Science with emphasis in Soil Microbiology,
Soil Biology or Soil Ecology or a closely related discipline. This is a
nine month tenure track position with 75% teaching and 25% research or
outreach responsibilities.



Requirements include an earned PhD in Soil Microbiology, Soil Ecology or
closely related discipline.  Ability to communicate and teach undergraduate
and graduate level courses in English and Spanish.  Evidence of success in
conducting and publishing high quality interdisciplinary scientific
research must be provided.  The person hired will be required to provide
evidence of his/her identity and eligibility to work in the United States.



DUTIES



Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on
soil microbiology, soil management, and soil conservation.  He/she may also
teach other related courses as needed.  As part of his/her research
responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to establish an
independent externally funded research program on topics dealing with soil
microbiology, soil management, soil carbon sequestration, effect of soil
amendment and cover-crops on soil properties, below ground biodiversity,
among others.  The candidate is expected to collaborate with colleagues
within and outside the campus and foster a positive workplace environment.
 The successful candidate will also advise undergraduate and graduate
students.
