[Wrf-users] Difference between grid%t_1 and grid%t_2 in ideal initializations

Does anyone know the difference between the components grid%t_1 and
grid%t_2 of the domain type? They both appear in the ideal initialization
code, for example in module_initialize_les.F I understand that grid%t_1 is
perturbation potential temperature, and in all the ideal initializations
grid%t_2 seems to be set equal to grid%t_1. So what is the purpose of
having these two components?
More generally, does anyone know where I can find the interpretations of
all the components of the domain type? For example, I can find t_1 and t_2
in the type definition in module_domain_type.f90, but without comments.
This file seems to be automatically generated and when I look in the
registry I find t_1 and t_2 but no information as to what they mean. Does
the meaning of the components always have to be inferred from context or is
there some documentation available somewhere?
Any help would be appreciated, as would any information about general
documentation for the WRF code.
Thanks, Chris
