Dear Tabish,

We use the Chimplot tool for this purpose:
http://www.lmd.polytechnique.fr/chimplot/

This is a Python program to visualize outputs of the CHIMERE CTM model.
It recognizes WRF files to make horizontal plots (lon/lat). If you want
to plot vertical profiles or cross-sections though you'd need vertical
coordinate in your file. So you can post-process the WRF output using
the program prepwrf coming with CHIMERE.

To make animations the principle is simple: in the Animation Mode along
any dimension (time for example), just press the <> button. This
generates *.png figures for each data slice in the chosen (time)
interval (for the whole range by default). Then you can use the convert
command or any other program to unite your images into a *.gif animation.

Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

With best wishes, Dmitry
