[Wrf-users] Uses of external soil temperature and moisture in WRF

Dear WRF Community:
When WRF is run with a land surface model (e.g., NOAH), it requires soil
temperature and moisture values from the WPS. Question: does the
WRF *only* use these values for its initial condition, or does it also use
these values throughout the simulation? If the latter, how are these values
used? (Are they boundary conditions along the north, south, east,
and west sides of the grid? Are they boundary conditions for the
bottom layer? Are they used directly at the surface?)
Thanks,
-Eric
