The Earth Sciences Department of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center –
Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) invites applications for a
technical support for research position. The BSC-CNS
(http://www.bsc.es/) is the National Supercomputer Facility in Spain
which hosts one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe and the
world. The mission of BSC-CNS is to investigate, develop and manage
information technology in order to facilitate scientific progress. With
this objective, it has been taken special dedication to areas such as
Deep Computing and e-sciences. The Earth Sciences Department of the
BSC-CNS has as main topics of research: air quality (photochemical and
aerosol pollution); climate change (feedback with air quality and
radiative forcing); and global and regional modelling of desert dust. We
are seeking applicants for *Technical support for research.

**The successful candidate will join the Earth Sciences Department and
will be in charge of the modelling technical support of the group. The
candidate will contribute to implement new parameterizations and couple
different modules with the current model developments of the group. The
codes will be port and run in the MareNostrum supercomputer. We
encourage applications from highly motivated individuals, with
computational skills and background in meteorology, air quality and/or
climate modelling who wish to develop their professional activities in a
stimulating environment, rich in technological resources.*

*Required experience/skills:*Candidates must have a graduate degree in
computer sciences, meteorology or engineering. Wide experience in
parallel programming (MPI, openMP, threads), programming languages (C,
C++, Fortran, Java), NetCDF I/O routines, and linux systems are
required. Also experience with atmospheric or ocean models will be
appreciated.
