[Wrf-users] 3DVAR qualifies most stations in the domain as outside

Dear users,

Using 3dvar_obsproc V2.1 I feed 3DVAR with the data from stations that lie in the area of the 1. domain.
While we export the data from a Data Base we already select the stations by its location
Checking the ASCII file in the MM5-LITTLE_R format (" sfcobs") indeed all the stations are incorporated and none is outside of the 1.domain limits.

We are running WRF and SI with 3 domains. In the namelist of 3dvar_obsproc (namelist.3dvar_obs) I put maxnes=1 so one should assume that only the 1. domain will be fed with observations.

In the logfile (3dvar.log) appear a hundred stations read. That number agrees well with the number of stations in the 1.domain area all those contained in the file "sfcobs".

Although the same logfile presents most of these stations as "outside". For example of 101 stations read 86 are outside. If 3dvar_obsproc would have processed 3. domain it could be reasonable, but with maxnes=1 explanation lacks. Some wrfuser told me about a bug, but I think this would be to big to be a bug.

thanks in advance for the hints

Thorsten
