Dear Colleagues,

I have come upon two very interesting items that I commend to your
attention. The first is the lawsuit that has been filed by the State of
NJ and several other states and New York City against power companies in
the Midwest to get them to abate their atmospheric pollution of carbon
dioxide. This is a first, and it is very well prepared. You can read
it at:

The other is a study showing quantitatively that the "prestige media"
gives too much weight to unscientific opposition to global warming:

Boykoff, Maxwell F., and Jules M. Boykoff, 2004: Balance as bias:
global warming andthe US prestige press, Global Environmental Change,
14, 125-136.
