*What keeps the FEMA Administrator awake at night and how you can help*
Join Craig Fugate, the Administrator for the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA), for a discussion of the intersection of NCAR
science and priorities for FEMA over the next several years.
Administrator Fugate will discuss issues he and those in his agency deal
with both regularly and less frequently. Science is critical for helping
anticipate and solve many of these problems. FEMA has to manage
emergencies ranging from extreme weather events, environmental
emergencies occurring on seasonal or shorter time scales, and plan for
long-term effects of changing climate.
Administrator Fugate, a dynamic, engaging speaker, is interested in
hearing your perspective on how science can assist FEMA in achieving its
mission to plan, prepare, and mitigate before, during, and after
disasters. He will also share his perspective on ways in which science
is making FEMA's?? job easier. The event will occur from 1:30 to 3:00
p.m. on Friday, November 14^th in the Mesa Lab Main Seminar Room.
