Hi SBR,
In order to use tmXBLabels/tmXBValues you need to se tmXBMode =
"ExplicitLabels". See the coding for the bottom panel of example #2 here:
http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Applications/tickmarks.shtml#ex2
