[ncl-talk] Capabilities of the "eofunc" Function

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to determine the individual variance contributions of each
independent variable in an EOF composite. It seems that the "eofunc"
function will only put out the overall variance that each EOF explains
between the given variables, and not for each individual variable in the
system. Is there any way to pull this information out of the function, or
maybe a work around without having to re-write an entire EOF function?

An example of what I am looking for is briefly described by the MJO CLIVAR
Diagnostics team. They use older FORTRAN scripts to find these values, but
I am trying to adapt these analyses to NCL instead. Their output image can
be seen here:

Their brief description of what the numbers represent is:

*The overall variance accounted for by each EOF is*
*indicated in Fig. 10. Calculation of the variance of in-*
*dividual fields (i.e., OLR, U850, U200) accounted for*
*by each EOF is also recommended, as indicated in*
*the figure. *

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time.
