[ncl-install] Problems with cpnumb.f and ngseti.f

I just installed NCL with Anaconda. Everything worked fine until I try to
produce a plot with
hp2ps or hp2x.  The error messages indicate compilation errors in two
files, as shown below.

"... At line 263 of file ngseti.f
Fortran runtime error: Missing initial left parenthesis in format"

"...  At line 202 of file cpnumb.f
Fortran runtime error: Missing initial left parenthesis in format"

Am I missing something?
