[ncl-install] NCL Installation failure in Ubuntu 18.04

Dear Sir/Mam,

I tried to Install NCL on  Ubuntu 18.04 from the pre-compiled binaries
available on the NCAR website. I worked according to the instruction given
for Linux installation. Though everything seemed to be fine, in the end I
could not run ncl.

I attach the error statement I encoutered

suma at suma:~$ ncl -x xy01n.ncl

suma at suma:~$ ng4ex xy01n -clean

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

cp: cannot stat '/usr/local/ncl-6.4.0/lib/ncarg/nclex//xy01n.ncl': No such
file or directory

Running NCL...
xy01n.ncl: No such file or directory.

ncl failed.

suma at suma:~$ ncargex cpex08 -clean

NCAR Graphics Fortran  Example <cpex08>

Compiling and linking...

The compile and link failed.

Kindly help me with what could be done to run NCL 6.4.0
