[ncl-install] Getting fatal error message when trying to run an .nc file

Hi,

I’ve been using the command ncl -x ./scriptname to open this however I keep getting a message 

"fatal:syntax error: line 1 in file ./geos_ftsc_accri.cam2.h1.2005-07-01-00000.nc before or near  
CDF
---^
fatal:error in statement” 

I tried inspecting the file using the command “ncdume filename | more” and looked in line 1 however am unsure what to fix. This is what it says 

"netcdf geos_ftsc_accri.cam2.h1.2005-07-01-00000 {“
