Thanks, Yes, the function cairo_recording_surface_create() is a replacement since 1.9.x.

From cairo NEWS file:

"
API changes (to API new in the cairo 1.9.x series)
--------------------------------------------------
  cairo_recording_surface_create()
  cairo_recording_surface_ink_extents()

    These are the replacement names for the functions previously named
    cairo_meta_surface_create and cairo_meta_surface_ink_extents.

​Your version of cairo is too old.  NCAR Graphics and NCL are built against at least version 1.12.16​.

The cairo and cairo-devel rpm are installed on this Linux box.

cairo-1.8.8-3.1.el6.i686
cairo-devel-1.8.8-3.1.el6.x86_64

Is there any other rpm I should install?
