[ncl-install] ncl 6.1, ESMF, Linux and OSX

Hi,

This particular Linux system is a bit of a mess (one reason I'm planning 
the Fedora install next month) so I wouldn't be at all surprised if I'm 
missing stuff.  However, I will not your info go to waste and will at 
least try to see if these libs are out there in one form or another, it 
just won't be right away (about to travel for over a week).

Will let you know how it goes :-)
