[ncl-install] Problem installing ncl 6 in Centos 4

We no longer create binaries using gcc 3.4.x because this is a rather  
old compiler and it's not available on our systems.

I suggest you upgrade your compiler, or else build NCL from source  
code yourself. We have built NCL using gcc 3.4 in the past, so you  
should be fine there.
