  Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------

Tatiana -

Could you please assist us with the upgrade to METViewer V3.1? For V2.11 you did share the .war and .tar files with METviewer executables and the web app with us. I guess the first step is for you to build 3.1 for us and send us the files.

Thanks.

John

All active links contained in this email were disabled. Please verify the identity of the sender, and confirm the authenticity of all links contained within the message prior to copying and pasting the address to a Web browser.

----

Hi John,

As I remember, I shared with you .war and .tar files with METviewer executables and the web app. I also gave you instructions where and how to install these files.
I can build METviewer 3.0 for you and you will install it the same way as METviewer 2.11. There is one more step you need to do for this release. We updated the database schema and you need to update your databases to work with v 3.0. I will provide SQL script that should take care of that. You just need to run it on all METviewer databases.
Let me know if you would like to proceed with the update and I will sent files to you.

Tatiana

Hi John

We are in the process of replacing R with Python. This is a long
process and would take us a few releases before we complete this task.
v3.1 is the first attempt where we implemented and included
Performance and Roc plots. At this point Python execution is optional
and you still could use METviewer with R the same way as you using it
now.

If you are not planning to use METviewer Python you don't need to
install Python 3.6 environment at this moment but you will need it in
the future when METviewer Python would be a requirement.
Let me know your decision and if you decide to go with Python I could
send you instructions on how to install it.

We should hold off upgrading Met viewer until ucar has finalized their

Rey and I agree that that we will continue using the V2.11 version. Is
there
any value to upgrading to V3.0 assuming that it still uses R and not
python?

Hi John

We are in the process of replacing R with Python. This is a long
process and
would take us a few releases before we complete this task. v3.1 is the
first
attempt where we implemented and included Performance and Roc plots.
At this
point Python execution is optional and you still could use METviewer
with R
the same way as you using it now.

If you are not planning to use METviewer Python you don't need to
install
Python 3.6 environment at this moment but you will need it in the
future when
METviewer Python would be a requirement.
Let me know your decision and if you decide to go with Python I could
send you
instructions on how to install it.

Tatiana

Please disregard the last email sent asking about the tomcat versions,
it was
an oversight on my part.

Thank you,

Tatiana -

Tatiana

Tatiana,

Do you have any idea why tomcat-7.0.73 would work with R, but when I
upgrade to version tomcat-7.0.104, R suddenly stops functioning?

Thank you,

CLASSIFICATION: UNCLASSIFIED

Subject: Request assistance with METViewer V3.1 install
From: Tatiana Burek
Time: Fri Oct 02 07:37:59 2020

Hi Rey
Without knowing Tomcat directory tree and seeing the log messages It
is hard for me to find a problem.
A few questions that could help me:
By saying that R doesn't work do you mean that R command doesn't' work
or METviewer scripts produce errors?
Could you send me error messages?
The old path to METviewer directory was:
/opt/tomcat7/webapps/metviewer
Is it different now?
