Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hello. We'd like to remove some records from the EMC MetViewer database
(mv_precip) - RAP had a bug in the computation of 3h precip bucket so
its VSDBs for 23 Aug - 5 Oct ought to be removed. Could you tell me the
procedure, or where to look it up? Also, at the meeting last Friday "an
easier way to remove records from database" was on the list of items
being developed. Is that coming out soon? (v1.9?)
Thank you,
Ying

Ying,
The current (1.8) version of METViewer includes a scrubbing script
scrubbing.sh :
/usr1/metviewer/metviewer/bin/scrubbing.sh
You can find a few examples how to use it inside the file itself.
This script would remove records from the requested database with
values included in the provided criteria (for example, a start and end
of forecast_init_beg). You can also run this script in the info mode
and get a sense of what will be deleted without actual data removing.
This script is limited by the only one criteria field. You can't
delete all records for some time window and a specified model. We are
working on improving the existing script to be more flexible. It will
be included to v1.10

Thanks Tatiana. I looked into scrubbing.sh - looks like I should wait
for v1.10.
