Hi Man,

I just logged on to jet to take a look at this. Thanks for sending
the
command you ran and the error message you're seeing. Can you please
tell
me where you're running this command? In what directory does your
data
live on jet?

Thanks,
John

At the meantime, I am using MET-8.0 on theia and it works fine.

Subject: run plot_tcmpr.R on Jet
From: John Halley Gotway
Time: Wed Feb 13 11:49:47 2019

Man (and Julie),

Thanks for pointing out this configuration issue on jet. I've
identified
the problem but don't know how to fix it yet.

I've cc'ed Julie Prestopnik on this email since she's the person who
compiles met-8.0 on various platforms.

Here's the issue:
(1) Log on to jet and run *R* on the command line with no problems.
(2) Load met-8.0 using:

*   module use /lfs1/projects/dtc-hurr/MET/MET_releases/modulefiles
module load met/8.0*
(3) Try running *R* again and you get this runtime linker error:
*   /usr/lib64/R/bin/exec/R: symbol lookup error:
/contrib/anaconda/2.0.1/lib/libreadline.so.6: undefined symbol: PC*

The problem is in the module file on line 19:
*    19 prepend-path LD_LIBRARY_PATH
$base/external_libs/lib:/contrib/anaconda/2.0.1/lib*

Whenever */contrib/anaconda/2.0.1/lib* is in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, R
isn't
happy. But we need it in there to make MET happy. Otherwise, you get
this
linker error:

*[John.H.Gotway at fe6 ~]$ grid_statgrid_stat: error while loading shared
libraries: libpython2.7.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No
such
file or directory*

Julie, any thoughts? Perhaps there's another version of python we
could
try linking against?

Thanks,
John

Thanks for your quick response.
Take you time. MET-8.0 on Theia is doing all the magic for us now.

Hi John.

I don't have a good solution for this issue. After asking around,
that was
the only version of Python 2.7 that I could find on jet. I'll
continue
thinking about a possible solution though.

Subject: run plot_tcmpr.R on Jet
From: John Halley Gotway
Time: Thu Feb 14 11:55:09 2019

Julie,

Just so that we don't lose track of this, I create a JiRA ticket for
this
issue:
   https://sdg/jira/browse/MET-1096

As Man points out, this isn't immediately critical, but we do need to
find
a fix eventually.

Thanks,
John
