John, currently MET expects climo data to be gridded (at least that was my understanding).  Is there any chance MET could be modified to handle climo data by station as well as gridded?
I am currently obtaining climo data from the Air Force Climo Center (14th Weather Squadron) and they wanted to know if we could handle climo by station?

Bob,

You are correct that MET is currently set up to only handle gridded
climatology data.  Enhancing point-stat and ensemble-stat to handle
point
climatologies will take some work.

However, we do have this same requirement in another context.  We have
an
existing JiRA issue (https://sdg/jira/browse/MET-563), requested by
NOAA-NCEP, to add support for the computation of a statistic called
SEEPS.
SEEPS requires point-based climatology data to be used.  So we should
coordinate whatever development is needed for AF point climatologies
with
the development for SEEPS to ensure that it's done in a consistent
way.

I'm cc'ing Louisa Nance on this issue with the hopes of routing
requests
for code changes through the right administrative channels.
