Bob,

OK, I did receive the ARL Safe email with your data, but didn't have
time
to go grab it over the last couple of days during the METplus
tutorial. I
went to go grab it just now but found that the link expired after 14
hours. I'm surprised that it's so quick.

Anyway, glad you found a workaround. I would've preferred to figure
it out
and give you a definitive answer.

But please let me know what other issues your run into.

Thanks,
John

John, for the range error, I attached the data file to the email so
you should have it. The ARL safe stuff was for a previous issue.

Subject: Range Check Error in Stat Analysis

Bob,

Sorry for not seeing that attachment. I was able to replicate this
behavior using met-6.1... but with met-8.0, it does result in a useful
error message as we'd like.

Here's the problem.... when running aggregate_stat to read MPR and
write
CTS, you need to define the output threshold for the contingency table
you'd like. Here's the met-8.0 error message:

stat_analysis -lookin
point_stat_galwemf_all_120000L_20190111_120000V_mpr.txt -job
aggregate_stat
-line_type MPR -by DESC -by FCST_THRESH -by FCST_LEAD -out_line_type
CTS

ERROR : do_job_aggr_stat() -> when "-out_line_type" is set to FHO,
CTC,
CTS, or ECLV, the "-out_thresh" option or "-out_fcst_thresh" and
"-out_obs_thresh" options must specify exactly one threshold.

This is fixed by defining the output threshold, like this (use
whatever
threshold you'd like):

stat_analysis -lookin
point_stat_galwemf_all_120000L_20190111_120000V_mpr.txt -job
aggregate_stat
-line_type MPR -by DESC -by FCST_THRESH -by FCST_LEAD -out_line_type
CTS
-out_thresh gt0

Make sense?

Thanks,
John

Yes, thanks.

Error in Stat Analysis

Bob,

Sorry for not seeing that attachment. I was able to replicate this
behavior using met-6.1... but with met-8.0, it does result in a useful
error message as we'd like.

Here's the problem.... when running aggregate_stat to read MPR and
write CTS, you need to define the output threshold for the contingency
table you'd like. Here's the met-8.0 error message:

stat_analysis -lookin
point_stat_galwemf_all_120000L_20190111_120000V_mpr.txt -job
aggregate_stat -line_type MPR -by DESC -by FCST_THRESH -by FCST_LEAD
-out_line_type CTS

ERROR : do_job_aggr_stat() -> when "-out_line_type" is set to FHO,
CTC, CTS, or ECLV, the "-out_thresh" option or "-out_fcst_thresh" and
"-out_obs_thresh" options must specify exactly one threshold.

This is fixed by defining the output threshold, like this (use
whatever threshold you'd like):

stat_analysis -lookin
point_stat_galwemf_all_120000L_20190111_120000V_mpr.txt -job
aggregate_stat -line_type MPR -by DESC -by FCST_THRESH -by FCST_LEAD
-out_line_type CTS -out_thresh gt0

Make sense?

Thanks,
John
