Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------
Good evening,
To whom this may concern, my name is Jordan Rabinowitz and I am a Ph.D. student from the University of Missouri-Columbia and I also happen to be an ASP Graduate Student Visitor at the MMM NCAR Lab this Summer (i.e., for just under 2 more weeks).
I was hoping to find a time to meet with someone at NCAR regarding some problems I am encountering with the configuration and the compilation of MET on both my personal Linux sub-system and on Cheyenne.
I will be here for all of next week and the week after (except for a Dynamic Happy Hour I am presenting during on August 7th at around 3:30 PM.
So, if your team could let me know who I may be able to speak with to gain better insights on the configuration process and a few other questions I had, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks!
Best,
Jordan

Hi Jordan. My name is Julie, and I'd be happy to meet with you and
help
with the configuration and compilation of MET. In case you aren't
aware,
MET is available on Cheyenne for use. In order to access MET you
need to
run the following:
- module use /glade/p/ral/jntp/MET/MET_releases/modulefiles
- module load met/8.1
There is some functionality that is not currently enabled with that
build -
the mode graphics tool and the Python embedding functionality. I do
hope to
have those enabled at some point in the near future, however.
This week and next I am available between 9:30 am - 3:30 pm, unless I
have
a meeting. I have sent you an invitation to look at my google
calendar so
that you can find a time that works for both of us. Please let me know
what
works for you. I can schedule a meeting and set up a room to meet in.
I hope you've been enjoying your time at NCAR this summer.

Julie,
Good morning.
Thank you for getting back to me as I greatly appreciate it.
Do you have any time in your schedule later today to potentially meet
so I would also be able to take some notes on the issues I am
currently encountering? I am only asking since I did not receive the
link to your Google Calendar.
Just let me know when you have a moment and I will look forward to
hearing back from you.

Julie,
Good afternoon.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
In response to your reply, I should be able to make 1:00 PM tomorrow
work just fine.
For the sake of clarity, where would I meet you since I am currently
situated on the 3rd floor of FL3? Is there a specific office you are
situated in?
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Best,
Jordan

Hi Jordan. I have reserved a conference room where we can work
together on
these compilation issues. The conference room is 3060 on the third
floor
of FL2. If you'd like, we can meet in the FL3 Atrium and I can walk
with
you over to FL2-3060, or if you'd prefer to meet me at the conference
room
at 1pm, that is also fine. Please let me know what you'd prefer.
Thanks,
Julie

Subject: Issues with Configuring and Compiling MET for Tropical Cyclone Research
From: Rabinowitz, Jordan L. (MU-Student)
Time: Wed Jul 31 09:56:02 2019
Julie,
Good morning.
Thank you for reserving the room for us to work on these issues this
afternoon.
Let's aim to meet in the FL3 Atrium on the first floor at around 1:00
PM since I will be coming from another meeting ending (hopefully) just
before that at FL4.
Just confirm with me if this is good for you and we can go from there.
Best,
Jordan

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Jordan. You're welcome! That sounds great. I'll plan to meet you
in
the FL3 Atrium on the first floor around 1pm. Don't worry if your
meeting
runs late, just head to the atrium when it's over.
